Individual Counseling

Individuals seek counseling for many different reasons. Through our professional training and experience our staff is equipped to help people overcome and grow through their struggles with a variety of problems. We regularly help people with communication problems, self-image issues, relationship issues and addictive or compulsive behaviors.  Our Christian values and beliefs are the foundation for our counsel.

Individual counseling is available for men and women who live within driving distance of the North Dallas area. Fees are based on a sliding scale which ranges from $80 to $150 per 50 minute session. Payment must be made at the time of the appointment. Payment must be by cash or check and a receipt will be issued which can be submitted to your insurance company for reimbursement if your policy covers “out of network providers.”  Each insurance company differs so check with yours to see if and how much they will compensate you for.

Group Counseling

Group counseling can be a powerful and effective part of the healing process. Your therapist can help decide whether a group counseling experience would be beneficial to you.

Various Groups are offered throughout the year. The size, cost, location, and times of these groups vary. Once these groups are scheduled, we post the information here on our web site.

For more information on upcoming groups please check back here or contact us and request to be added to our email list.

Marriage Counseling

Many marriages are struggling these days just to stay together. Issues like job stress, financial pressure, children, and unhealthy modeling by our culture create stress and can pit us against one another. It doesn’t have to be this way though. Your marriage can do more than just survive, it can thrive.

With divorce rates as high as they are, there is a need for Christ centered counseling directed at maintaining God’s design for marital intimacy. Issues like humility, compassion, commitment, and sexual purity need to be foundational in every marriage.

The staff of Faith Walk Counseling has both professional and personal experience that effectively equips us to work with couples who are struggling with problems such as miscommunication, financial stress, and parenting issues.

Schedule an appointment today and let us help you get started growing toward a healthier relationship.

Intensive Counseling

What is it?

“Intensives” are exactly what the name sounds like, an intense counseling experience. They consist of sessions that last several hours each day and extend over a one to five day period. Intensives are offered to clients who want to work with one of our licensed counselors but don’t live close enough to travel to our office on a regular basis. Intensives are not designed to replace individual ongoing therapy but instead they work in conjunction with your ongoing therapeutic process.

There are several reasons that a client may choose to participate in an intensive counseling experience. They may wish to gain a new perspective on their issues, they may need to work with someone who has more experience in dealing with a certain issue than their current counselor has, or they may feel “stuck” and need a jump start. Whatever the driving factor, intensives can offer a unique solution for the motivated client.

How do I get started?

After contacting one of our licensed therapists you will be interviewed by phone and/or email and evaluated to see if an intensive counseling experience would be beneficial for you. If so, a requirement for participating in one of our intensives is that you must currently be involved in ongoing individual counseling with a therapist in your area. Your therapist will be contacted before the intensive for their evaluation of you and to ensure that they will be willing to offer support to you after your intensive experience. They must agree that the intensive will be beneficial for you. As a part of your intake paperwork, you will be required to sign a release of information form so that we can speak with your current therapist.

What to expect?

Intensives are scheduled over one to five consecutive days. A typical intensive schedule involves meeting with one of our therapists for three to four hours each day and your will be asked to spend the rest of the day working on homework assignments or processing. It is highly recommended that you stay at a hotel in the area rather than commuting or staying with family or friends. These tend to be distractions from your ability to process the work that is being done during your intensive. We can recommend hotels in the area as well as provide you a list of places to eat.

One benefit to this type of counseling is that it can be scheduled over a weekend. This can help minimize the time missed from work or school. The recommended length of the intensive will be determined by your therapist.

Intensives must be booked at least three weeks in advance to ensure enough time to complete the needed paperwork, therapist interviews, and planning required by your intensive counselor.

After concluding your intensive work with our therapist we will contact your local ongoing therapist. They will be given a fifteen minute consultation regarding your experience and progress.

Costs

The cost for intensive counseling is $285 per session (each 3-4 hour session). This includes the initial consultation/interview, counseling fees, and pre- and post follow-ups with your local, ongoing therapist.

Christian Heterosexual Affirmation Therapy (C.H.A.T.)

What is C.H.A.T.?

We live in a world that is overly focused on sex. We constantly see sex used as a marketing tool, a way to casually connect with friends, and a story line for almost every movie and show on television. In a very real sense, we are becoming desensitized to what sex was designed to be. The culmination of intimacy between a husband and wife in a committed, monogamous, heterosexual marriage relationship. Christian Heterosexual Affirmation Therapy is an approach to counseling developed by Eddie Traughber that focuses on achieving the life of sexual purity that the Bible calls for.

C.H.A.T. is a counseling approach that helps Christian men and women who are struggling with their sexuality to find fulfillment in following God’s plan for relationships and intimacy. Whether you are struggling with pornography, sexual addiction, infidelity in marriage, or unwanted homosexual attractions or behaviors Christian Heterosexual Affirmation Therapy can help. Find out more about God’s design for healthy sexuality in your life and how you can work towards finding a life of peace and contentment.

The goals of Christian Heterosexual Affirmation Therapy are not simply abstinence or heterosexuality. Instead, the goals are purity and holiness. As Christians we believe that we are created to be more than our sexual desires, behaviors, and even orientation. We are created to be a reflection of our Creator. While our sexuality is a part of who we are, it needs to be kept in the proper perspective and used to honor and glorify God.

If you or a loved one are struggling with sexual identity issues, don’t wait another day to get the Christ centered help you need. Faith Walk counselors have the ability to understand and relate to people who are wrestling with difficult issues like this from a caring and compassionate perspective.
